The Highway Department maintains all of the county and state roads, and bridges in Polk County. This includes snow and ice control, shouldering, mowing, patching, culvert replacement and paving. The Highway Department also regulates anything that happens in the county highway right-of way (driveway accesses, utility installations, house moving, etc.).
