Emergency Communications/911



The Polk County Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have two Communications Officers on duty at all times, and three working during peak shifts. They work 8.5-hour shifts in a high stress and fast paced environment. Our division strives to provide the highest level of customer service to the citizens of Polk County.
Key responsibilities and services provided:
- Respond to all emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance.
- All 911 calls from Polk County are answered by this center. Our Communications Officers are certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch. This allows us to provide pre-arrival instruction to help sustain life until medical assistance arrives at the scene.
- Dispatching all emergency services including 15 Fire Departments, 8 Ambulance Services and 14 First Responder groups. This also includes dispatching for all law enforcement officers on duty within the county.
