MnDOT & WisDOT to host May 10 public meeting for the Highway 243/Osceola Bridge project
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation are holding an in person public meeting to share the recommended alternative for reconstructing the Highway 243/Osceola Bridge, which carries motorists over the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway.
The public meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 at the Osceola Village Hall, 310 Chieftain St. There will be a brief presentation at 5:15 p.m. During the meeting, members of the public can learn more about the project, including the analysis of options considered, and get their questions answered.
The two transportation departments have been in the process of designing and reconstructing the bridge since 2021. The bridge was built in 1953. The purpose of this project is to maintain a reliable highway connection over the St. Croix River between Washington/Chisago counties in Minnesota and Osceola and Polk County in Wisconsin. Construction is currently expected to begin in 2026.
The project team is working with federal, state, and local interests to minimize project impacts to the St. Croix River and other natural resources in the area. More information can be found on the project website.
